Virginia Woolf was an essayist, publisher, critique but more than that she was a great novelist who advanced the frontiers of the English novel by adopting a revolutionary technique for the expression of her vision of life and human nature. She is considered to be one of the leading figures of modernist literature of the twentieth century who used the stream of consciousness technique to get close to the mind of the characters and expressed exactly the impact of life on their personality.
